Review:
The boat comes with tips that allow you to transform the capabilities of the boat. If you want slower cartwheels then add the 8” tips. If you want looseness and easy blunts then add the bumpers.
Unlike other shorter play boats with either of the tips attached the hull will not plough through the water when trying to ferry glide or run a river the tips will lift the bow out of the water so you do not have this problem.
With the tips attached the Transformer has now got really slicey ends. Another great thing about the tips is they take the abuse from the rocks, so your boat doesn’t have to.
One problem though is that as they are not solid they do not give you any responsive feed back so you don’t know what your about to hit, which doesn’t give you time to react to the situation. This limits the boats to being an all out playboat with some potential of river running in easy surroundings and conditions.
The Transformer 2 is only 182.9 cm, which makes cartwheeling simple; with the tips attached it’s even easier.
The Transformer is a short but wide boat which makes it more slicey then older style kayaks, also the volume is in the width of the boat that stops the ends of the boat going too deep while cartwheeling, blunting or looping which will help the ends of the kayak to last longer.
Of course this is helped by Wavesports ultra stiff plastic, which takes a good shoeing so you don’t have to. Sweet!
