Cartwheel:

At steady forward paddle put the boat on your left edge. Put your blade in at your bow on your left while lying slightly forward.

Pull back to your hip with the paddle vertical at this stage. The bow will come up out of the water and you will be upright in your boat with the paddle at your hip.

Now throw all your weight forward onto that edge forcing yourself to keep a low profile with the boat. Push with your paddle flat now and with the entire paddle in the water you will push down on the blade at your hip.
Rotate your head and torso so that you are trying to look behind you at the stern while the boat goes vertical. The boat will in effect try to follow you and will arc round.

That’s your first end!

Now you should be vertical after your first end and be on your stern!

You must continue the same body and head rotation in the same direction with the help of a paddle stroke from your right blade, which will smash the bow back downinto the water! As the bow is smashing down you must put in a stroke using your left blade to help bring the boat back to vertical again!

You will now be vertical once more and in a position to continue on cartwheeling!

NOTE. If you lean out far from the boat or try to lever yourself without the paddle being vertical in the water while laying on the stern you will capsize!
An aggressive position should be maintained so that you are always aiming to be forward in your boat. This will help with all other moves as well!
